BABY WELCOMING CEREMONY
A loving start into life
Your baby has arrived? Congratulations!

A new life begins — and with it, a special journey for you as a family.
A welcome ceremony is a beautiful way to celebrate the arrival of your new family member, to officially welcome them into your community, and to share your good wishes for their life ahead. It’s a and personal alternative to a baptism — non-religious, individual, and entirely shaped by your own values.

Welcoming a little being into the world fills me with deep joy. As an experienced celebrant and communication expert, I will create a ceremony with you that truly reflects who you are — to give your child a loving and powerful start in this world.

Warmly,
Patrizia

What might a ceremony look like?
Every family is unique — and so should be the celebration. Together with your loved ones, you welcome your child in a place that feels right for you: in your garden, by the lake, in your living room, or under the open sky.

During a personal meeting, we get to know each other. You tell me about your child, your values, and your story. From that, I create a tailor-made ceremony. It may include elements such as:

-
A personal speech
-
The meaning of your child’s name
-
Wishes and blessings from family and friends
-
A symbolic act (for example, involving one of the four elements)
-
Music that connects you
-
Singing, dancing, or crafting together
-
The involvement of godparents, siblings, or grandparents

Your baby welcome ceremony in four steps:
01 | Initial meeting (no obligation)
You get in touch with me, and we discuss your wishes, ideas, and whether your preferred date is still available.
03 | Ceremony preparation
I prepare the ceremony, write a detailed outline as a foundation, and coordinate with everyone who will contribute to the celebration.
02| Planning together
In a personal meeting, we plan and design a welcome ceremony that perfectly suits your child and your family.
04 | The baby welcome ceremony
On the day of the event, I arrive early at the location to make sure everything runs smoothly and as planned.
Who is a welcome ceremony for?
Welcome ceremonies are for anyone who...

-
wishes for a meaningful alternative to a traditional church baptism,
-
wants to celebrate their values independently of religion,
-
has adopted a child or welcomed a foster child into their family,
-
or simply wants to consciously welcome their child into the world.
A welcome ceremony can also be a beautiful choice for older children or siblings — as a mindful ritual that fosters closeness and connection.

What does a welcome ceremony cost?

the creation of a personal, professional, and heartfelt welcome ceremony for your child

Answers to frequently asked questions
Does the welcome ceremony include religious elements?
My welcome ceremonies are free from any fixed religious framework. They are non-denominational and fully tailored to your personal wishes.

However, if certain spiritual or symbolic elements are meaningful to you, we can gladly include them.
What is the difference between a baby welcome ceremony, a naming ceremony, and a non-religious baptism?
There isn’t a strict difference. In English-speaking countries, various terms have become common for ceremonies that serve as an alternative to a church baptism.
At their heart, they all share the same purpose: to lovingly welcome a child (or young person) into the circle of their family.
Can we include a welcome ritual in our wedding ceremony?
Yes, absolutely! A welcome ritual can be beautifully integrated into a wedding ceremony — especially if your child is already part of your shared life.
Feel free to contact me with your wedding date to discuss the details.
Is the child baptized after a welcome ceremony?
No, it is not a religious baptism. You decide for yourselves how you wish to live your values, spirituality, or faith within your family.
How long does a welcome ceremony last?
Usually between 20 and 40 minutes — depending on how many rituals, contributions, or musical pieces are included.
From what age can a welcome ceremony be held?
Typically, a welcome ceremony takes place within the child’s first year — but it can be held at any age.
